One Wallet. One Vote. One Global Wave: Community Comes First at The Tide.
The Starfish Story brought us here. Giving people a meaningful say in what happens next is how we carry it forward. Imagine two people voting for our next Wave Partner (community nominated charity, church, or cause). One holds a million $STARFISH. The other holds exactly one.
Their votes count the same. That was a deliberate choice. When our community decides which organization to support next, we want people learning about the causes, asking questions, and making a choice that matters to them. Having more tokens shouldn’t make that choice count more.
The Tide began with a simple belief: small acts of kindness deserve to be taken seriously. The Starfish Story captures it better than any pitch could. You may not be able to help everyone on the beach, but you can help the one in your hands. Our Wave Partner program takes that same idea into a community setting. We bring people together, learn about organizations doing good, and focus our support on one of them each month.
It’s a practical part of what Crypto for Good means to us. And with our first community vote approaching, we want to explain how it works—and why we built it this way.
A small holder still gets a say
Plenty of crypto voting systems give people more influence when they hold more tokens. We chose a different approach for Wave Partner voting. Each eligible wallet holding at least one $STARFISH gets one vote. Holding more doesn’t increase its voting weight. Once submitted, that vote cannot be changed during the voting period, so take a little time to get to know the finalists before choosing.
There’s a limitation we should be honest about: one wallet isn’t necessarily one person. Someone can control multiple wallets. This system removes the direct link between a wallet’s token balance and its voting weight; it does not guarantee one vote per human. That distinction matters. If we’re going to talk about transparency, we need to explain the limits along with the features.
We also want to make something clear for anyone who likes the mission but has no interest in crypto: you’re welcome here. You don’t need to own $STARFISH to share kindness, introduce us to a worthwhile organization, or help someone in your own community. The Tide has room for all of that. In fact, it depends on it.
Who should we know about?
You probably know an organization we’ve never heard of. Maybe it’s a local nonprofit that helps families keep food on the table. A church whose volunteers quietly show up whenever someone needs a hand. Or a small team doing difficult work in a place that rarely makes the news. That local knowledge is one of the most useful things our Ripple Makers can bring to this movement. The Wave Partner process starts with nominations of eligible charities, churches, nonprofits, and other qualifying organizations. Each monthly ballot has five finalists.
Four are selected through a review of community interest and impact-related criteria. That includes verified impact, recent momentum over 30-, 60-, and 90-day periods, geographic and cause relevance, global holder distribution, public awareness, urgency, and cause rotation. We want that process to help us look beyond the names everyone already recognizes. The fifth spot does that in another way.
A chance for the new kid
We call it the Wild Wave. This finalist is randomly drawn from qualifying newer organizations that are no more than one year old. Starting something is hard. You can have committed volunteers, a real need to address, and people already counting on you—and still struggle to get anyone outside your immediate circle to notice.
The Wild Wave gives an eligible newer organization a place on the ballot alongside more established finalists. It still has to earn the community’s vote. But first, it gets the chance to tell its story. We like that. A movement inspired by the Starfish Story should make room for people starting small. Imagine discovering an organization through that fifth spot, reading about its work, and realizing it serves a need you’d never considered. Even before a vote is cast, that introduction can be worthwhile.
The first vote is almost here
Our monthly schedule follows Pacific Time:
Nominations close on the 24th at 11:59:59 PM.
Voting opens on the 25th at 12:00 AM.
Voting closes on the last day of the month at 11:59:59 PM.
The selected Wave Partner’s term begins on the 1st at 12:00 AM.
For our inaugural cycle, nominations close October 24, 2026. Voting runs October 25–31, and our first community-selected Wave Partner begins November 1. That first partner is designated to receive the IMPACT Fees generated since $STARFISH launched, along with the fees generated throughout November. Its direct donation window runs from November 1 at 12:00 AM through November 30 at 11:59:59 PM, Pacific Time.
If you have an organization in mind, now is a good time to nominate it.
The vote is just the beginning
Choosing a Wave Partner is only useful if people can understand what support follows. Every buy and sell of $STARFISH carries a 1% IMPACT Fee, with 100% of that fee designated for the monthly Wave Partner. The Tide does not take custody of donated funds. Our approach to Proof of Impact brings together records of fees and donations, reviewed acts of kindness, and public reporting. Blockchain for Good has a useful role here: on-chain transactions give people records they can examine for themselves.
There’s also our Returned to the Sea program. For each qualifying act of kindness reviewed and verified through The Tide, one $STARFISH is permanently burned from the dedicated Kindness Reserve, up to its 100 million-token allocation.
During a Wave Partner’s direct donation period, each qualifying US dollar donated corresponds to one $STARFISH burned from the separate Wave Partner impact reserve, also up to 100 million tokens. Those burns create a permanent on-chain record connected to verified participation. They do not guarantee anything about the token’s price.
For us, Measurable Kindness means being specific about what happened: an act was submitted and verified, a qualifying donation was recorded, a corresponding token was Returned to the Sea. It also means being careful about what those records prove. A blockchain transaction can show that tokens moved or were burned. It cannot, on its own, show whether a family received the help it needed. That requires verification, responsible reporting, and follow-through from the people involved.
Proof of Impact has to include that human work. Otherwise, we’d only be telling part of the story.
We’re choosing where to focus
There’s something uncomfortable about asking people to choose between good causes. We understand that. How do you weigh clean water against disaster relief? Or meals for a struggling family against support for a veteran? A monthly vote can’t settle those questions, and we don’t expect it to. Its purpose is to give our community a shared focus for the coming month.
An organization that doesn’t win still deserves attention. You can learn about its work, share its story, volunteer, or support it directly. The ballot may introduce you to a cause you continue caring about long after voting closes. That would be a good outcome, too.
We hope The Tide becomes a place where people discover good work they might otherwise have missed—and stay involved.
What we hope to build
Social Impact Crypto is a useful description of this project. What will make it worth anyone’s time is what we do with it. Can we help a small organization get noticed? Can we make support easier to trace? Can we encourage someone to do something kind today, then give someone else the nudge to do the same tomorrow? Those are the questions we care about.
We’re early. We’ll learn things we didn’t anticipate, and there will be work to improve. We owe our community honest explanations along the way, including when something falls short. But we don’t need every answer to know that people have something valuable to contribute. You may know the next Wave Partner. You may be the person who asks a question that makes our process better. You may share an act of kindness that reaches someone on a day they really need to see it.
None of those contributions can be measured by your wallet balance. That’s why community participation belongs at the center of Crypto for Good. The technology gives us tools; people give those tools a purpose.
Help shape the next wave 🌊
Before October 24, tell us about an eligible organization you believe deserves a closer look. When voting opens October 25, spend some time with the finalists. Read about their work. Ask questions. If your wallet is eligible, use your vote.
In addition, whatever you decide about $STARFISH, keep doing the everyday things that brought us here. Help a neighbor. Encourage someone who’s struggling. Give credit to the person who always shows up for others. The Starfish Story stays with people because it makes kindness feel possible. You don’t have to wait until you can do something enormous. We’re building The Tide with that same belief—and we’d love for you to be part of it.
One wallet. One vote. One global wave.
⭐ It made a difference to that one.
🌊 Small Acts of Kindness. Endless Waves.
